The Three P’s
Sanitary sewer systems are only meant to flush the three P’s: pee, poop, and (toilet) paper. Other items cause problems for the pumps and treatment issues at the plant.
Please help our system run better by not flushing the following items into the sanitary system:
- Wipes, Grease, Kitty Litter, Cigarettes Butts, and Food
- Sanitary products like tampons, sanitary napkins, and other feminine products.
- Paper Towels, Dental Floss, Q-tips, diapers, condoms, and cotton balls.
- Prescription Drugs and Medications
- Household Hazardous Materials Like Motor Oil, Pesticides, Paint, and Solvents
WIPES
The invention of wipes that have been marketed as flushable SHOULD NOT be flushed! Wipes do not degrade and often clog the system equipment and cause premature pump failures – resulting in higher operational costs. DISPOSE OF WIPES IN YOUR MUNICIPAL TRASH – DO NOT FLUSH!
We ask all users to refrain from flushing wipes down the toilet to help us improve our operation.
GREASE
Food preparation entities are required to have a grease trap before discharging to a sanitary system. If maintenance is not performed as required, grease enters the collection system causing problems at the lift stations and at the plant in the treatment process.
We ask all food preparation entities to review their grease trap maintenance requirements to help us continue to provide reliable system operation for all users.
